On Sept. 9 in Brooklyn, WWD, Footwear News and Beauty Inc will host "Women in Power: Up To The Challenge," bringing together executives across fashion, retail and beauty to talk about the biggest issues impacting women executives and creatives today.
The one-day event is being held at a critical time, when women’s rights are being threatened globally and the number of women chief executive officers at the largest 50 public and revenue-reporting companies in fashion, beauty and retail dipped slightly in 2024, to nine, or 18 percent, from 10, or 20 percent, in 2023.
In addition to analyzing the latest data on women leaders across the industry, executives and creatives will open their playbooks to share their tools for success in today's business world, including discussions about pathways to leadership, strategies for team building and brand building, the importance of health care and self-care, and more, as well as a celebration of the honorees on the fourth annual Women in Power list. Topics will include:
- Building a brand that cuts through the noise;
- Lifting up communities by design;
- Putting together a winning team;
- Running a company while prioritizing personal well-being;
- Leading through tumultuous economic and geopolitical times;
- Talking to employees about tough topics
