Christin Brown, an Oakland native, grew up with her father telling her that she could do whatever she wanted in her lifetime. When she made the pivotal career change from classically-trained chef to entry-level hairstylist, Ms. Brown felt that her world was flipped upside down. Uncertain of where her new career would take her, she made the bold move of choosing the niche that would preface the genesis of her talents, specializing in curly hair. Now ten years into her craft, she has worked with celebrities including Wanda Sykes, Yara Shahidi, Tamera Mowry-Housley, and Ashley Blaine Featherson, and she has had features in Forbes, Vogue, Allure, ELLE, Women’s Health, and more. Her latest projects include furthering natural texture conversations with mainstream social media platforms and pushing for higher education in cosmetology programs.
