Speaker Bio

Brandon Maxwell is a luxury women’s ready-to-wear label launched in New York in 2015. The brand was born out of the desire to make women feel beautiful, sophisticated, and powerful using timeless, impeccably tailored garments focused on craftsmanship. Inspired by the strong women in his life, Mr. Maxwell’s hallmark style of sharp tailoring and sculptural details are apparent in his namesake collection. Each season the designs evolve, but the muse stays the same.

At a young age, the immaculately dressed women who shopped at the boutique where his grandmother worked in Longview, Texas, captivated Mr. Maxwell. He began assisting stylists in 2009, including Deborah Afshani, Edward Enninful, and Nicola Formichetti, and then established a styling career in 2012. He acted as a fashion director to Lady Gaga and worked on fashion campaigns and editorials for talented photographers such as Inez and Vinoodh, Mario Sorrenti, and Mario Testino.

Mr. Maxwell has been the recipient of numerous accolades. He received the AAFA Designer of the Year Award in 2020, CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year Award in 2019, FGI Fashion Star Award in 2019, and the Texas Medal of Art for Design in 2019. In addition, he also received the Woolmark New York Semifinal Prize Award in 2018, Fashion Group International Rising Star Award for Womenswear in 2016, CFDA Swarovski Award for Womenswear in 2016, and was named a finalist for the 2016 LVMH prize. Mr. Maxwell can be seen as a judge on Bravo TV’s Project Runway.

He studied photography at St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas.
