Sonia Summers started her career working in-house for global powerhouses like Avon, where her team at mark won WWD’s Best Executed Brand Launch award in 2014, and Valeant Pharmaceuticals, where she created a retail strategy for Kinerase Skincare by leveraging Courtney Cox and catapulting the brand to the top spot at Sephora.
Following her successful corporate career, Ms. Summers decided to launch her own business. She understood that gaining retail distribution is only half the battle, and the other more difficult task is achieving sell-through in store. In 2015 she launched Beauty Barrage, an outsourced sales management agency complete with a highly successful and modern field team – helping to create signature experiences and a "human touch" at retail. Beauty Barrage provides training and education for retail associates, in-store event creation and execution, pop-up shops, and sales support. Hiring, training, and managing a field team are a difficult and costly venture for any brand. With Beauty Barrage, an experienced team of beauty professionals are already in place and available to support your brand, nationally or regionally. Ms. Summers also saw the value of incorporating technology and has pioneered a proprietary web-based application that includes a real-time brand portal with monthly schedules, daily shift data, trends, and sales analytics in real time. The web app is also equipped with a mobile application with geo-fencing technology and the ability to efficiently communicate directly with her more than 300 field employees across the country.
