Ibada Wadud is a designer, educator, social entrepreneur, and consultant specializing in sustainability, social justice, and racial equity.
Ms. Wadud is on the faculty at Parsons School of Design in the School of Design Strategies, School of Fashion, and Graduate Fellowship in Impact Entrepreneurship. She is Head of Impact and Founder at LULAH, an initiative that aims to provide an employment pipeline for women who are returning citizens formerly incarcerated.
A passionate advocate for design justice and equity-centered design, she advises corporations and nonprofits, including Adidas, the United Nations, and The Slow Factory Open EDU Initiative, sponsored by Stella McCartney, to develop and integrate creative sustainability and business strategies into their operations. She is also a member of the New York Fashion Workforce Development Coalition where she worked to develop The Fashion Act and advise on equitable and sustainable mechanisms for its implementation.
Before joining Parsons, Ms. Wadud managed corporate social responsibility at Kate Spade New York, overseeing production and economic impact for the Rwanda brand initiative. In 2019, she received the Juniata College Young Alumni Achievement Award from her undergraduate alma mater.
Ms. Wadud is a graduate of the Institute for Design and Public Policy at Rhode Island School of Design with a master’s degree in human rights and sustainable development.
